Day 1
Arrival in Benodet in the Département Finistère. Welcome meeting in the evening with an aperitif and the following first Breton dinner.
Day 2 Douarnenez – Locronan – Quimper 42 km
Transfert to Douarnenez, which is also known as the city with its three harbors. Renoir loved the play of colors of the harbor installation, with the fisher houses and its coming and leaving sailors.. Douarnenez is one of the most important fishing harbors in France. From here we are cycling into the hilly hinterland. We are reaching Locronan, one of the most beautiful villages of France. Thanks to the beautiful old city, with its houses of granite from the Renaissance era, many films were shoot at the picturesque market place. Visit of the church St Ronan and the chapel du Pénity with the grave of St Ronan, his statue and the impressive windows. The poet Chateaubriand was a great admirer of this village. Continuation on the journey to Quimper and return transfer.
Day 3 Benodet – Concarneau – Pont Aven 49 km
From the hotel we follow the coast towards the south on small and picturesquely streets. Small forests, coastal area and bays are accompanying us to the Pointe de Mousterlin Cap – Coz. Amazing view on the special coastal landscape. We pass Fouesnant and its harbor and cycle to Concarneau. We will visit the “Ville close”, the closed fortress city. Over a bridge we are reaching the island and the charm is capturing us immediately. Tour on the fortification, we stroll through the small lanes. Concarneau is the biggest fishing harbor ion France. Continuation on the journey to Pont Aven. A popular meeting point of impressionist artists in the 19th century. Pau Gaugin, Emile Bernard,Maurice Denis and others were fascinated of light and landscape.
Day 4 Pointe du Raz – Ride on the coast La Cornouaille 52 km
In the morning transfer by bus to the Pointe du Raz. Tour on the impressive cape.
Then we begin our fascinating bike stage along the „Cornouaille“, a coastal area, which is characterized by its rough romantic rocks, small picturesque harbor villages and the bays with a great variety of colors. From time to time the view on the sea imposes us and we stop to enjoy this marvelous play. Obviously the pick nick takes places on the beach today. So, don’t forget your swimwear!
Day 5 Benodet – Penmarc’h 37 km or 74 km
Starting from the hotel alongside the Breton coast via Ile Toudy, Loctudy to Penmarc’h. From Ile Toudy we take the ferry to get to Loctudy. We are crossing quaint villages before we get to the coastal cycling path which allows us to admire the view on the sea and the paradisiac beaches for the next 8 kilometers. Of course we will have a wonderful pick nick here! Destination is the lighthouse of Penmarc’h, Phare Eckmühl. It is one of the highest lighthouses in France. Let’s go! They are only 307 steps to the 65m high top… Transfer either by bus and free time in Benodet or return by bike. We can observe the return of the fishing boats back to the habor, a unique experience.
Day 6 Quiberon – Carnac 38 km
Starting point of our today’s stage in the small harbor village Etel. We cycle to the peninsula Quiberon, which is, especially in the high season, popular for its beautiful beaches. We are crossing the peninsula with the swimwear in the paniers. Today’s pick nick takes again place on the beach. First the Cote Sauvage, the wild coast and further the calm side with its long sand beaches. In the afternoon we visit Carnac. It is known for are than 3000 Menhire, which were grouped into stone rows. This visit is a Must-See in the Morbihan.
Day 7
Unfortunately, it is time to say good-bye, except you want to extend your trip.
